Currently there have been nearly 10 thousand doctors and nurses in Beijing, fighting with SARS at the front line. According to the latest statistics by May 5th, there are altogether 20,850 doctors in the 2nd-class and 3rd-class hospitals of Beijing, among of which 2,703 involving in SARS prevention and 1,203 involving in quarantine for fever patients, equivalent to 18.73% of the total doctors; there are altogether 24,226 nurses in the 2nd-class and 3rd-class hospitals of Beijing, among of which 4,241 involving in SARS prevention and 1,498 involving in quarantine for fever patients, equivalent to 23.69% of the total nurses. Under this pestilence, due to locating inside high-risky persons and close to look after patients, doctors and nurses have got high rate of being affected, and even certain rate of them passed by in the front line against SARS. While we present our respect to them, we also acknowledge the importance for hospitals to strengthen self-protection of doctors and nurses and strengthen identify identifying management of mobile patients.
Infection control in SARS hospitals is a important measure to prevent cross-infection inside hospitals. SARS has high infection, able to distribute through close flying saliva or contact with secretion of patients, thus hospitals must take strict sterilization and prevention.
